We are beginning Unit 2: Reading and Writing Informational Texts: Challenges in Going to School
We have finished Unit 1: Building our Background Knowledge: Schools and Their Importance
Foundational Skills Block
Our next skills topic is: Long a, spelled "ay" and "ai"
Skills Topics we have already covered
Open and closed syllables
Grade level spelling patterns we have learned:
*There is a whole group phonics skill lesson each day
*students also meet in a small group to address their specific phonics needs
Math
We will take daily math fact quizzes to help your child strengthen his/her math fact fluency using Xtra Math.
Students will use their math book to complete activities
We are working on our next math unit, Topic 2: Work with Equal Groups

Students will work on either the Social Studies or the Science unit.
