Education and Certification
Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from UNC-Greensboro
Masters in Elementary Education from Wingate University
Teaching Background
I have taught for twenty one years at Selwyn Elementary. I previously taught Kindergarten for 6 years and I loved it. I taught second grade before I moved to Kindergarten and I am excited about being back to second grade.
My Philosophy
I am always trying to find a way to make each year even better than the last. I want my students to enjoy learning as much as I do. I try to help students make a connection to everything we learn, so they can truly understand all that I am teaching them. I feel it is important for children to understand that everything we are learning in school is preparing them to be successful now and in the future. Each child is unique and has great ideas. I create an environment in my classroom that is accepting of all students and helps all students recognize their own personal strengths. Students learn best from one another and it is important for them to learn how to work with others, especially when they think or learn differently from one another.
